DHAKA, April 22, 2026: The Government of Bangladesh has formed a new national committee to strengthen coordination and overall management of activities related to forcibly displaced Myanmar nationals (Rohingya) living in camp areas across the country.
According to an official gazette notification signed by Additional Secretary (Committee and Finance) Md Humayun Kabir, the 16-member committee has been formed under the Cabinet Division with the Home Minister serving as its convener.
The committee includes senior political leaders and top government officials, such as the Foreign Minister, State Minister for Women and Children Affairs, State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief, Cabinet Secretary, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, and Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division.
Other members include the Foreign Affairs Secretary, Disaster Management and Relief Secretary, Inspector General of Police, Director General of the NGO Affairs Bureau, Director General of National Security Intelligence (NSI), Director General of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI), Chattogram Divisional Commissioner, and the Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner based in Cox’s Bazar.
The committee has been tasked with coordinating and overseeing all activities related to the maintenance of law and order in Rohingya camps, as well as ensuring effective management and repatriation efforts. It will also monitor, evaluate, and review ongoing activities related to Rohingya nationals, including those carried out by the National Task Force (NTF) on repatriation and the National Executive Committee responsible for relocation to Bhasan Char.
In addition, the body will provide recommendations on security arrangements and address any other related administrative or operational matters concerning Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.
Officials say the initiative aims to improve inter-agency coordination and strengthen oversight of one of the country’s most complex humanitarian and security challenges.
